HIARC (Halal International Assurance and Research Centre) is the Halal technical wing of MANTECH&ARC an exclusive partner organization of International Trade Centre, Geneva, Switzerland. ITC is a special joint agency of UN and WTO for global trade with focus on enhancing Enterprise Competitiveness.
“Halal” means permissible based on hygiene and safety rules besides others ensuring no negative repercussions for humans. Halal has its roots in the origin and practices ascribed to the Holy Qura’an and Shariya i.e., Islamic Law, respectively. Islamic dietary laws are becoming increasingly acceptable and are becoming international benchmark for quality assurance and authenticity of healthy food. Given the food related issues, ailments and acute diseases that have even led to mortalities; the need for Halal food assurance is expected to grow manifold regardless of religion, race, and region.
Our Vision:
"To become the leading customer friendly Halal Hub"
Our Mission:
"To facilitate customer friendly Halal assurance and credibility in food chain".
Pakistan’s trade related strategic geographic location, its strong agriculture base, its peoples’ strong perceptions and need for Halal food, huge rural based livestock and poultry stock reared on organic fodder and natural grass lands makes it an ideal source for the best meat. It however lacks in awareness and the necessary KSA-Knowledge, Skills and Abilities to capitalize on this advantage. HIARC therefore aims to offer its platform for creating the requisite awareness and develop the necessary expertise that benefits business persons, food researchers, Halal food sellers, Halal suppliers, vendors, exporters and the end consumers i.e., the customers who need assurance that they are consuming Halal and hygienic food. HIARC continually strives to encourage local businesses to explore international Halal food markets by enhancing their capacity through different programmes and services.
HIARC’s maxim “Purity is our Priority”, encompasses the whole process from
“Farm to Fork” and therefore its focus is on assuring not only the product being Halal but the Halal Food Chain process as well.
Two significant areas of Halal Food Chain process are Halal auditing and Halal supply chain management. Auditing is based through accreditation of hygiene and safety rules which also constitute pat of our Halal
Training Modules. HIARC uses PS Halal Food Standards
to identify and implement Halal Control Points (HCPs) for the authenticity of Halal food products where product ingredients, credibility, and hygienic issues are dealt with for the satisfaction of Halal food customers. Identically, Halal Food Chain i.e., Halal Food Supply Chain Management especially Halal logistics specifies the assurance of quality and standardization of Halal food through packaging & labeling, storage, transportation and distribution.
Given our Enterprise development and competitiveness services in collaboration with ITC-UN&WTO, Geneva, Switzerland, we develop supply chain linkages of local enterprises with foreign companies and act as liaisons for those that do not have local presence and offices in Pakistan. Using our experience, business network we can find vendors, identify potential outlets and franchisees and can develop distribution channels through developing networks for companies.
